US claims new strikes on 80 Iranian targets
The United States has claimed to have carried out strikes on more than 80 Iranian targets while a ceasefire remains in effect.

On Tuesday (July 7), the United States said it conducted the military operation, blaming Iran for attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that strikes were carried out on more than 80 Iranian targets using 'precision-guided weapons'.

CENTCOM claimed the strikes targeted Iran's air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar installations, and anti-ship missile capabilities.

Additionally, US forces claimed to have struck more than 60 small vessels of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) positioned in and around the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the United States, the operation was carried out in response to Iran's attacks on three commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

However, Iran has not officially responded to these allegations. The country has neither admitted nor denied responsibility for the attacks.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that explosions occurred in several strategic areas, including the southern port city of Sirik, Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, and Kharg Island, following the US strikes.

Iran's state broadcaster IRIB claimed that most of the strikes targeted civilian areas. They said debris from a projectile fell on the Sirik commercial jetty, injuring several people.

Complete information on casualties and damage from the incident could not be independently verified immediately.
