He said this while speaking as chief guest at a seminar titled ‘Every Heartbeat Is Life’ organized on the occasion of World Heart Day at the National Heart Foundation in Mirpur.

The minister said work is underway to upgrade upazila health complexes across the country from 50 to 151 beds to deliver healthcare to people. Initiatives have been taken to set up 10 dialysis centers at the district level and 50 at medical college hospitals.

Mentioning the highest budget allocation for the health sector, he said importance is being given to ensuring necessary manpower alongside infrastructure. As part of this, a nationwide nurse recruitment program has begun.

Expressing concern over the rise in HIV infections and the growing trend of non-communicable diseases in the country, the minister highlighted the need to strengthen preventive measures and raise public awareness.
