According to the notification, the maximum cost of producing rooftop solar power with batteries has been set at Tk 8 per unit. Adding 20 percent profit and 11.25 percent premium to this, the price of electricity supplied to the national grid has been fixed at Tk 10.50 per unit.

Incentive available for installation within stipulated time

According to the Net Metering Guidelines, 2025, customers who install rooftop solar power systems by February 28, 2027 and supply surplus electricity to the national grid after their own use will receive Tk 10.50 per unit for up to three years. This facility will remain effective until February 28, 2030.

This incentive will not apply to solar power systems installed after February 28, 2027.

Electricity distribution companies will store customers' information and the amount of electricity supplied to the grid. The incentive money will be sent to the customer's bank or mobile banking account; it will not be given in cash.

Additionally, solar panels, batteries, inverters, meters and related equipment must conform to the technical standards set by BSTI and SREDA.

Necessary assistance in this regard will be provided from the Power Division's one-stop service center and the district and upazila level offices of distribution companies.

The notification has come into effect from September 1, 2026.
