He said this while speaking as chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by metropolitan BNP at Comilla Shilpakala Academy on the occasion of BNP's founding anniversary on Monday.
The minister said, Ziaur Rahman's sense of responsibility, honesty and simple lifestyle are exemplary for political workers. He called upon BNP leaders and activists to work for the welfare of the country and people inspired by his ideals.
He said, in a democratic state, the people are the main source of power. The government is formed by the direct votes of the people and no government can remain in power permanently.
Regarding agriculture, Amin Ur Rashid said, about 75 percent of the country's people are directly or indirectly involved in agriculture. Sustainable development of the country is not possible without the economic development of farmers. The government is implementing various initiatives for loan waiver of farmers, agricultural assistance and improvement of quality of life.
He also said, the government has plans to reduce import dependence on agricultural products and achieve export capability of various products including onion in the future.
