On Tuesday (September 1), the meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office in Bangladesh Secretariat.

During the meeting, Anda Filip praised the Prime Minister's leadership and said that the Prime Minister's participation in regular sessions of the national parliament sends a message of his firm commitment to parliamentary democracy.

The Prime Minister said that democracy has been re-established in the country after a long struggle. Alongside protecting democracy and the constitutional rights of the people, the government is working to ensure an effective parliamentary system.

He said that people have high expectations regarding democracy. It is possible to ensure the country's sustainable development only through a strong and effective democratic system.

Anda Filip said he had read the BNP's election manifesto and praised various initiatives in education and community-based sectors. Praising the progress of Bangladesh's parliamentary democracy, he said that if this trend continues, people's trust in state institutions and the democratic system will increase further.

The IPU Secretary expressed interest in further strengthening experience-sharing and cooperation with the Bangladesh National Parliament. He expressed hope that the relationship between the two sides would be further strengthened through the participation of Bangladesh's Speaker in the 153rd IPU Assembly to be held in Tanzania.

The meeting also discussed the participation of women and young parliamentarians and women's empowerment. Anda Filip praised the enthusiasm and interest of young and women parliamentarians.

The Prime Minister said that women's empowerment is one of the government's top priorities. Initiatives are being taken to make women financially self-reliant through free education up to honours level, stipends, and the ‘Family Card’ project for women.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs-1 Humayun Kabir and State Minister for Foreign Affairs-2 Shama Obaed were present at the meeting.
