Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight stuck in Singapore due to mechanical fault, passengers suffer
Biman Bangladesh Airlines' BG 585 flight was cancelled due to a mechanical fault at Singapore's Changi Airport. Passengers expressed anger and frustration after learning about the cancellation following a long wait.

Although passengers arrived at the airport around 3 pm on Monday for the scheduled flight, they received no clear information about departure for a long time. Later, under pressure from passengers, the airline authorities confirmed the cancellation of the flight due to a technical fault.

Passengers complained that the lack of timely information about the flight increased their suffering. Children and elderly passengers, in particular, are enduring hardship due to the long wait.

The airline authorities said steps have been taken to send necessary spare parts from Dhaka to Singapore to repair the faulty aircraft. If repairs are possible, an attempt will be made to operate the flight on Tuesday.

In recent times, various technical faults have been repeatedly detected in Biman Bangladesh Airlines' Boeing 737 and Dash 8 aircraft. These problems are recurring due to negligence in timely repair and maintenance, the quality of spare parts, and a lack of workforce skill. As a result, not only are flight schedules being disrupted, but passenger confidence is also rapidly fading.

Meanwhile, the captain of BG-585 expressed regret to the passengers and assured them of a safe journey. However, many passengers believe that assurance alone is not enough—what is needed is a realistic solution and consistent safety guarantees.

On the other hand, if repairs cannot be completed within the scheduled time, there is a plan to send a Dreamliner aircraft from Bangladesh to Singapore at 4 pm on Tuesday as an alternative. An attempt will be made to bring back the stranded passengers on that aircraft.

In the wake of the flight cancellation, the affected passengers also expect the airline authorities to take steps regarding accommodation, food, and other assistance.
