Cabinet approves new pay scale proposal
The government has approved the proposed new national pay scale 2026 for government employees. It is scheduled to take effect from July 1.

The new pay scale was approved at a cabinet meeting held on Monday afternoon chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

According to the proposed pay structure, salaries will increase by a minimum of 100 percent and a maximum of 142 percent. The new pay scale is planned to be implemented in three phases.

It proposes a maximum basic salary of Tk 156,000 for Grade-1 and a minimum basic salary of Tk 20,000 for Grade-20.

The Ministry of Finance has recommended implementing the new pay scale in three phases over two fiscal years to reduce inflation and pressure on the government budget.
