Brigadier General Miftah Uddin in army custody over Ekramul murder case allegations
Lieutenant Colonel (now Brigadier General) Miftah Uddin Ahmed, the then commander of RAB-7, has been taken into army custody on allegations of involvement in the 2018 murder of Teknaf Councilor Ekramul Haque.

It has been learned that Brigadier General Miftah Uddin Ahmed was serving as the Station Commander of Barisal Cantonment. He was taken into army custody on Tuesday night Bangladesh time under the supervision of AA & QMG at the Lodge Area of Dhaka Cantonment.

Related sources said that the process of taking necessary legal action against him under the existing laws of Bangladesh will continue.

Notably, in 2021, the US State Department imposed entry bans on two Bangladeshi officials on allegations of human rights violations, including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and then R‍AB officer Miftah Uddin Ahmed.

However, no immediate official statement was available from the Bangladesh Army or concerned authorities on this matter.
