PM instructs swift action to reduce air and noise pollution
Prime Minister Tarek Rahman has instructed to take quick and effective measures to control air and noise pollution. At the same time, relevant authorities have been directed to explore the possibility of using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to control excessive honking of vehicles in the capital.

He gave these instructions at a meeting on environmental pollution held at the Prime Minister's Office on Saturday (July 18). The Prime Minister chaired the meeting.

In the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized taking quick and effective measures to reduce air pollution caused by brick kilns. He also highlighted the need to increase brick production through environmentally friendly alternative technologies.

Law enforcement agencies were directed to perform their duties more strictly to control noise pollution caused by excessive honking of vehicles in the capital. Additionally, a detailed discussion was held on whether artificial intelligence technology can be used to control honking, similar to the AI-based cameras used in traffic management.

The Prime Minister instructed to take effective initiatives to quickly remove unfit, expired, and environmentally polluting buses, trucks, and other vehicles from the roads of the capital.

Furthermore, to reduce traffic congestion and ensure modern traffic management, instructions were given to introduce automatic traffic light systems at at least 50 more important locations in Dhaka as soon as possible.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Abdul Awal Mintu, Deputy Minister Sheikh Faridul Islam, Deputy Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad, Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr. Saimum Parvez, Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation Md. Abdus Salam, Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md.
