Government's main goal is to ensure people's welfare: Home Minister
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has commented that the government's main goal is to ensure people's welfare. He said that as a government elected by the people's votes, it is the government's duty and commitment to stand by people during any disaster or crisis.

He said these things on Saturday (July 18) as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the construction of 100 houses for the rehabilitation of flood victims under the initiative of Shamsul Haque Foundation at Pekua Upazila ground in Cox's Bazar.

The Home Minister said, 'Bangladesh first, people before power'—the current government is working with this principle in mind. Improving the quality of life of the people and standing by the people affected by disasters is one of the government's top priorities.

He informed that assistance programs have been taken not only for families who lost their homes but also for farmers, fish farmers, and livestock farmers affected by the flood. Farmers whose seedbeds, seedlings, or agricultural land have been damaged will be provided with necessary agricultural inputs including fertilizer and seeds.

He also said that a survey of losses in the fisheries and livestock sector will be conducted and necessary assistance will be provided.

The Home Minister further said that initiatives will be taken to quickly repair various infrastructures including schools, colleges, madrasas, and roads damaged by the flood. The government will always stand by the people and take all necessary steps to ensure justice.
