On 28 October, one day after he went missing, his body was recovered from the Turag River in Uttarkhan in the capital. Afterwards, claims spread on social media that he was involved in the incident of spreading the video of Sheikh Hasina leaving the country on 5 August 2024.
In an interview published on the YouTube channel ‘Speak with Rashid’ on 21 July, Tahsif spoke about his job, his experience working in the Air Force, and news reports published about him. He also claimed that the report was disinformation.
Near the end of the interview, when the host asked about the video of Sheikh Hasina leaving the country, Tahsif said that although the report linked him to spreading the video, it did not say that he himself had recorded the video. He said, “Even if I did make the video or spread it, what is the proof they are having.” In other words, he questioned what evidence there was for the allegation of recording or spreading the video.
In response to a question about whether this allegation was related to his release from the Air Force, Tahsif said, “It could be.” Noting that he could not disclose all the events of that time, he expressed the view that action may have been taken against him because of the allegation. However, in his statement he did not definitively admit to recording or spreading the video.
After Tahsif’s death, a post by KSM Intisar Inzamam, known on social media as a friend of his, also came into discussion. The person, known to be serving in the Bangladesh Navy, claimed in the post that Tahsif was involved in the incident of spreading the video of Sheikh Hasina leaving the country. At the same time, he spoke of the need to know more information about the circumstances of Tahsif’s death.
In his post, Inzamam also mentioned studying with Tahsif at Adamjee College and training experience at the Bangladesh Military Academy. However, no independently verifiable evidence or final investigation results were found to support his statement about the allegation of spreading the video and whether it had any link to the death.
The outcome of the relevant investigation is important to determine the cause of Tahsif’s death and whether it has any relation to the video-related allegation. Without reliable autopsy and investigation information, his death cannot be definitively described as the result of murder, an accident, or political involvement.
