According to the report, the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Baken area of Nagqu region. In addition, strong tremors were felt in Qamdo and Nyingchi cities as well.
In the earthquake-affected areas, power supply has been disrupted and more than three hundred houses have been damaged. Because landslides have closed various roads, rescue operations in remote mountainous areas have become difficult.
Earlier, in 2023, more than 120 people died in a magnitude 6.2 earthquake in China's Gansu province.
