Barrister Jamir Uddin Sarker is no more
Former Speaker, BNP standing committee member and veteran politician Barrister Jamir Uddin Sarker has passed away (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Rajiun).

He breathed his last at 4:19 am on Sunday (July 12). BNP leader Barrister Nasir Uddin Asim confirmed the matter.

Jamir Uddin Sarker was born on December 1, 1931 in Nayabari village of Tetulia upazila in Panchagarh district.

He served as the Speaker of the Eighth National Parliament. He also served as the acting President of Bangladesh for a brief period in 2002.

In his long political career, he was active as one of the senior leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). His contributions to parliamentary democracy, lawmaking and national politics will be remembered.
