New 101-bed hospitals in 13 upazilas, 418 upazila health complexes to be upgraded
To further expand healthcare services for rural people, the government has approved upgrading the existing 418 upazila health complexes to 101 beds, as well as establishing new 101-bed upazila health complexes in 13 new upazilas.

This information was provided in a letter issued on July 8 from the Public Health Management-1 branch of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The letter stated that to ensure quality healthcare for rural people, the bed capacity of the existing 418 upazila health complexes will be upgraded to 101. At the same time, the Prime Minister's approval has been obtained to establish 101-bed upazila health complexes in 13 new upazilas.

Concerned authorities have been instructed to quickly prepare the necessary Development Project Proposal (DPP) for implementing this decision and to submit a proposal for creating additional manpower (posts).

In this regard, a letter has been sent to the Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, instructing them to expedite the work of increasing beds in existing upazila health complexes and establishing new hospitals.

Currently, most upazila health complexes in the country have 31 to 50 beds. Concerned parties hope that if this government initiative is implemented, patient admission facilities, treatment capacity, and overall healthcare quality in rural areas will significantly improve.
