Constructive criticism and responsible journalism accelerate development: State Minister Mir Shah Alam
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shah Alam, MP, said that responsible and objective journalism plays a crucial role in advancing the country's development journey. Along with properly presenting the government's development activities to the people, the media must remain vigilant against any kind of propaganda, rumors, and misinformation.

He said these things today (Thursday, July 9, 2026) while speaking as the chief guest at the 'BSRF Dialogue' event organized by the Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) at the Secretariat's media center.

The State Minister said, none of us are above mistakes and errors. Therefore, we expect constructive criticism and cooperation from the media. You will highlight our mistakes, errors, and limitations so that we can correct them and work more effectively for the people.

Regarding the development of Bogura, he said that Bogura had lagged behind in development for a long time. However, currently, under the direction of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he is working tirelessly to make up for that deficit. At this time, he mentioned that he considers himself fortunate to have BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as the minister of the ministry and a guardian.

Recalling his political and professional life, Mir Shah Alam said that over his long journey, he has overcome various adversities and challenges to reach his current position. Various experiences in political life have made him more responsible towards public service. He said that besides serving as a public representative, he has had the opportunity to work closely with activities at various levels of the administration, which has helped him gain practical experience in policymaking and implementing public welfare initiatives.

He further said that before becoming actively involved in national politics, as a successful entrepreneur and founder and chairman of Ruposhi BD Group, he made significant contributions in various sectors including agro, nutrition, and human resource management. However, after assuming state responsibility, to avoid conflicts of interest and ensure full focus on official duties, he transferred the daily management and business responsibilities of the organization to family members. Currently, he is completely focused on his government duties, while the organization's activities are managed by his family members.

The event was presided over by BSRF President Md. Masudul Haque, and was attended by the organization's General Secretary Ubaydullah Badal, BSRF members, representatives from various journalist forums and organizations, and journalists from print, electronic, and online media.
