He said, the contribution of expatriates to the country's economy is extremely important. They are sending remittances home through hardship and playing an important role in keeping the country's foreign exchange reserves strong. Yet after returning home, they are often not treated as desired at the airport.
Sakhawat Hossain Sharif said, “Many of those working at the airport consider themselves landlords, so they humiliate expatriates. The government should stop the harassment of expatriates through proper management.”
He further said, alongside increasing the quality of service for expatriates at the airport, there is a need for an effective system to resolve complaints quickly. Ensuring respectful and harassment-free service for expatriates is the responsibility of the state.
