In the Facebook post, Tasnim Jara mentioned that last Saturday morning, a government gazette-listed valiant freedom fighter named Manik Pashari (87) died in Pirojpur. But local Jamaat leaders and activists obstructed his burial in Pirojpur's soil, calling him ‘fake freedom fighter’. Even some people came and filled up the first grave dug at the house. Later, fearing the situation would worsen, the elderly man's daughters and sisters dug a new grave together, and after midnight he was buried under police guard.
The former NCP leader further wrote that there are state institutions and courts to verify whether Manik Pashari was a freedom fighter or not. But Jamaat leaders and activists, by stopping the burial and holding a microphone, wanted to settle the matter themselves. The leaders and activists of the party that opposed independence in 1971 now want to decide who is a freedom fighter and whose grave will be where. She also remarked that the party that talks of justice before elections has behaved so inhumanely with a dead man and his grieving family.
