Shortly after 10 am on Wednesday (October 21), the uranium-carrying convoy entered the power plant. It will be used as fuel for the second unit of the power plant.
Earlier, when the uranium shipment arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a special cargo plane on Tuesday night, officials of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority took charge of it. Later, around 5 am on Wednesday, the convoy set off for Rooppur by road under tight guard by the Army, Police, SRB and intelligence agencies.
Several officials of the power plant, unwilling to disclose their names, confirmed the arrival of the uranium. With this, three shipments of uranium have reached Rooppur this year. Earlier, on October 3 and 11, uranium for the first unit of the power plant reached Rooppur.
