Transfer by lottery: List of 18 Dhaka sub-registrars published
Eighteen sub-registrars have been selected through a lottery from various districts across the country for transfer to various sub-registrar offices in Dhaka. On Tuesday, they were selected by lottery from among 131 'A' category sub-registrars at the Secretariat.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman said that the selected officials will be appointed to various sub-registrar offices in Dhaka considering their efficiency and the workload of the relevant office.

Those selected in the lottery are—Ripon Chakma, Amina Begum, Sharmila Ahmed Sampa, Ali Azgar, Rajib Mazumder, Shingmang Thowai, Monisha Roy, Mohammad Hanif, Nazneen Jahan, S M Abu Musa, Mohammad Masum, Gobinda Saha, Rashed Mallik, Amit Mangal Chakma, Ajay Kumar Saha, Farida Akter, Amaik Babu and Golam Mortuza.

The law minister said that the workload is not equal in all sub-registrar offices in Dhaka. Therefore, appointments will be made considering the officials' capability and the amount of work.

He said that the initiative has been taken to break the syndicate that has formed in offices that are considered by the public as ‘dens’ of corruption. This is an ongoing process, and if anyone becomes involved in corruption while performing duties, action will be taken against the concerned official.

Noting that currently 232 sub-registrars are working across the country and 139 posts are vacant, the law minister said the recruitment process for the vacant posts is underway through the PSC. He also said that over the past six months, action has been taken against nearly 10 sub-registrars on corruption allegations.
