Strict message from State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku on eliminating drugs and maintaining law and order
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, who is in charge of overseeing law and order and development activities of Dhaka district, has instructed to take strict measures to eliminate drugs, suppress teenage gangs and control the law and order situation.

He gave this instruction while speaking as the chief guest at an exchange meeting with Members of Parliament and the administration on the law and order situation and development activities of Dhaka district, held today at the conference room of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

The State Minister said, teenage gangs and drugs are now major social problems. If drugs are not controlled quickly, their spread will increase further and negatively impact society. Everyone must work unitedly, giving priority to eliminating drugs.

He instructed to prepare a list of drug dealers and form special teams in every area in coordination with law enforcement agencies. The State Minister also said that action would be taken against drug dealers according to the list.

He also emphasized bringing battery-powered auto-rickshaws under control to ease traffic congestion. He instructed the concerned authorities to take initiatives to quickly bring them under control and under license.

Urging officials to inform him if development work slows down, the State Minister said, if necessary, initiatives will be taken to implement those works after discussion with the Prime Minister. He also said the Prime Minister would review the monthly progress of district-based law and order and development activities.

At the meeting, emphasis was placed on building a social movement to prevent drug selling, teenage gangs, robbery, theft and mugging, evicting illegal shops, freeing footpaths from encroachment and easing traffic congestion. The Members of Parliament called for a more effective role by the police in implementing a strict policy against drugs.

Dhaka District Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam presided over the meeting. Members of Parliament, district administration, police administration and senior officials of law enforcement agencies were present.
