He died on Wednesday (2 September) morning while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. The deceased Barek was the son of Sobahan Ali of Sajnai village in the upazila.
According to local sources, on the morning of 29 August, when he took a goat to bathe in a pond beside his house, neighbor Rabiul Islam Rubi objected. During an argument that followed, Rubi allegedly hit Barek on the head with a bamboo.
In a critical condition, he was taken to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex, where doctors referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. He died there on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment.
After the body was taken home, tension arose between the two sides, and police went and brought the situation under control. Chatmohar police station OC Oliur Rahman said preparations are underway to file a case in this incident.
