Government seeks Japan's cooperation in transforming Bangladesh into regional aviation hub
The government has sought Japan's cooperation in the journey to transform Bangladesh into a regional aviation hub. It also called for increasing Japanese investment in the development of the aviation and tourism sectors.

On Wednesday morning, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh SAIDA Shinichi paid a courtesy call on Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat MP at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. During the meeting, the ambassador congratulated the minister on taking charge as a full minister.

The minister said Japan is a trusted development partner of Bangladesh. The launch of direct Dhaka-Narita flights reflects Bangladesh's firm commitment to expanding connectivity and cooperation between the two countries.

Regarding the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the minister said the government is determined to open the terminal within the stipulated time. Steps have been taken to quickly begin Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) activities. The techno-financial evaluation of the proposal of the Japanese Sub-working Group has already been completed, and discussions will begin next week.

The minister further said there are more than five hundred heritage tourism spots in the country. In addition to attracting Japanese investment in their development, the government wants to work in Buddhist tourism through public-private partnership.

In the meeting, the Japanese ambassador reiterated Japan's commitment to working in close cooperation in implementing the election manifesto of the government of Bangladesh.
