He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the event organized on the occasion of BNP's 48th founding anniversary in Hathazari on Tuesday (September 1).
Mir Helal said, since its inception, BNP has been practicing healthy and multi-party democracy. Following the principles and ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the party is working unitedly to continue this democratic practice in the country.
Criticizing the previous government, he said, Section 144 was imposed and torture was carried out at various times to stop BNP's meetings and rallies. Even then, BNP leaders and activists of Hathazari have celebrated the founding anniversary for long 17 years amid various adversities.
He said, the people will stand by BNP in the future as they did in the past. BNP is ready to protect the country from any unstable situation. Besides, he expressed his resolve to remain vigilant so that the injustice and oppression committed in the past do not recur.
Leaders and activists of BNP and its associated and affiliated organizations were present at the event.
