Today is Wednesday (August 26), the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi (SAW). On this important day of 12 Rabiul Awal for the Muslim world, the birth and demise of the great Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) is remembered.
On the occasion, devout Muslims will observe the day through Quran recitation, reciting Darood, charity, and voluntary worship. There is a public holiday in Bangladesh today.

On the occasion of Eid-e-Miladunnabi, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have given separate messages. They urged establishing peace, harmony, justice and human values following the ideals of the great Prophet (SAW).

On this occasion, the Islamic Foundation has taken up a fortnight-long programme. There will be various arrangements including Waz Mahfil, Qirat and Hamd-Naat Mahfil, seminars at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. Besides, a month-long Islamic book fair has been arranged on the premises of the national mosque.
