Repatriation only sustainable solution to Rohingya crisis: Defence Adviser
Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr A K M Shamsul Islam has said there is no alternative to safe and dignified repatriation for a lasting solution to the Rohingya crisis.

Speaking at a seminar held at Dhaka University on Monday (August 24), he said the presence of a large number of Rohingyas who have taken refuge for a long time is increasing pressure on Bangladesh's humanitarian, national and regional security. Currently, about 1.18 million Rohingyas are staying in 33 camps in Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char.

He said the government is working to pave the way for repatriation through strengthening diplomatic efforts at the international level, increasing security in the camps and communicating with relevant parties in Myanmar.
