Goal to build trillion-dollar economy by 2034: Science and Technology Minister
With the aim of transforming Bangladesh into a strong, knowledge-based and innovation-driven trillion-dollar economy by 2034, the 'Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026' will be held at the Novo Theatre in Dhaka from September 12 to 14.

Science and Technology Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam made this remark at a networking meeting held at Sheraton in Dhaka on Monday (August 24). He called for the active participation of the private sector, industrial entrepreneurs and researchers in the fair.

The minister said that without high value-added industries and innovative technologies, it is difficult for Bangladesh to maintain its competitiveness in the global market. To this end, an initiative has been taken to build a complete innovation ecosystem combining innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and government agencies.

He also said the government has formed a special startup fund of Tk 500 crore to commercially utilize the innovative ideas of young people. At the same time, he called on domestic industrial entrepreneurs to invest in high-tech and innovation parks.

Md. Anwar Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said the fair will accelerate the commercialization of technology by connecting research and innovation with industry. Initiatives are also being taken to increase the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, nanotechnology and biotechnology.

Representatives of various business organizations, industries, banks, technology companies, researchers and policymakers took part in the meeting.
