Prime Minister has no objection to Tarique Rahman's India visit, but the visit must be based on equality, equal dignity and friendship, said Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.
He said this on Friday (21 August) at the membership conference of Jamaat-e-Islami held at Rajshahi District Council auditorium.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, the people of Bangladesh want a friendly and equal relationship with India. Bangladesh will not accept the hegemony of any country.

He further said, if the Prime Minister wants, he can stop ongoing extortion, corruption and bribery business in the country. The main issue now is how sincere the government is in stopping these.
Regarding local elections, the Jamaat Ameer called upon leaders and workers to work to ensure voting rights by standing by the people. He also instructed them to remain vigilant so that no one can take away people's voting rights.
