DB Additional Police Commissioner Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest to the media on Wednesday (August 5) afternoon .

He said that Joglul Pasha was arrested on Tuesday (August 4) night from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area . Multiple cases have been filed against him in various police stations .

According to DB sources, he was apprehended around 8:50 PM upon his return to Dhaka from Cox's Bazar by air .

According to police, Syed Joglul Pasha is an accused in several cases, including the Special Powers Act case filed at Gulshan Police Station, the Parvez murder case from the anti-discrimination student movement at Jatrabari Police Station, a case related to Operation 'Eagle Hunt' at Shibganj Police Station in Chapainawabganj, and the murder case of BNP leader Altaf Hossain at Daulatpur Police Station in Kushtia .

Furthermore, DB sources said he is also connected to a 2013 case regarding obstruction caused by placing a sand-laden truck in front of the BNP office in Banani .

Police said that further legal proceedings against him are currently ongoing .
