PM Tareq Rahman invited by Modi to BRICS Summit
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tareq Rahman to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit, scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India's capital, next September.

Deputy Foreign Minister Shama Obaed Islam shared this information while speaking with journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (July 23).

He said, the invitation letter for the Prime Minister's visit from India has reached the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has already been sent to the Prime Minister's Office.

The 18th BRICS Summit will be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. Although Bangladesh is not a member state of BRICS, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited Prime Minister Tareq Rahman to participate in the summit as a special guest.

At the BRICS Summit, heads of state and government from the world's emerging economies will exchange views on the global economy, trade, investment, development cooperation, and various international issues. Stakeholders consider the potential participation of Bangladesh's Prime Minister to be significant for the bilateral diplomatic relations and regional cooperation between the two countries.
