Allegation of attack on police after announcement from mosque microphone, OC among 2 injured
In Sujanagar, Pabna, there are allegations of an attack on the police after an announcement was made from a mosque microphone. Police claim that activists and supporters of the banned Awami League participated in the attack. In this incident, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sujanagar Police Station, Mozaffar Hossain, and Constable Sabuj Hossain were injured.

The incident occurred around 4:30 AM on Thursday (July 16) in the Doppara area of Mathurapur Union in the upazila.

Pabna Superintendent of Police Md. Sufi Ullah confirmed the truth of the incident. He said the two injured police officers were given first aid and legal action is being taken against those involved.

According to police sources, there was a gathering of people in the area late Wednesday night on the occasion of the World Cup football match. At that time, based on secret information, police learned that a group led by Abdul Ohab, president of the banned Awami League's Sujanagar upazila branch, was planning sabotage. Based on such information, a police patrol team in two vehicles conducted a raid in the Doppara area of Mathurapur.

According to police, sensing their presence, an announcement was made from the microphone of a local mosque. Subsequently, over a hundred activists and several hundred supporters attacked the police with local weapons. During this time, two police vehicles were vandalized, and the OC along with two police officers were injured in the attack.

However, Abdul Ohab, president of the banned Sujanagar upazila Awami League, denied the police allegations. He said, 'Due to the police operation, I myself cannot go to the area. There is no question of me being present there. As far as I know, after the match, some local youths were cooking khichuri. When the police went and arrested 10-15 people, local residents and women freed them. I heard that during the scuffle, the police vehicle was hit and two police officers were injured.'

Superintendent of Police Md. Sufi Ullah said, operations are ongoing to identify and bring those involved in the attack under the law.
