Iran fires at US tanker in Strait of Hormuz
Iran has fired at a US tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. The US then launched an attack on Iran's Bandar Abbas area. Iran's semi-official news agency Tasnim News reported this.

Tasnim News reported that Iran's Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) navy fired at a US oil tanker while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The US tanker was attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz with its radar system or communication system turned off.

In response to this action by Iranian forces, US forces also fired back. According to the Tasnim News report, US forces launched a counterattack targeting an abandoned area of Iran's port city of Bandar Abbas.

In a message on the Telegram messaging app, Tasnim further said that the loud explosion heard in the eastern part of Bandar Abbas was related to this exchange of fire. However, no casualties or damage have been reported from this incident.
