Today, Thursday morning, the minister said this after performing Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the Darul Jannat Noor Eidgah ground in South Sarikal Madhyapara, Gournadi upazila, his own constituency in Barisal.

The Information Minister said, 'Holy Eid-ul-Azha is a great religious festival for the Muslim Ummah. This festival highlights the glory of sacrifice and the lesson of self-sacrifice before people. Every year, through this festival, the value system is awakened, teaching how to hold the highest mentality of sacrifice for the satisfaction of the Almighty. Eid-ul-Azha gives us that lesson.'
Zahir Uddin Swapan further said that the newly elected BNP government is working to restructure a devastated economy. He sought prayers from the countrymen on the day of holy Eid-ul-Azha to face this challenge under the leadership of the Prime Minister. He said, 'On this joyous day of Eid, we especially seek prayers from the countrymen so that Almighty Allah inspires us all with the spirit of unity, sacrifice and empathy. At the same time, may He give us the strength to move our country forward on the path of development and prosperity.'
After the Eid congregation, Maulana Mohammad Azizur Rahman, Imam of South Sarikal Madhyapara Darul Jannat Noor Jame Mosque, offered prayers for the peace, progress and prosperity of the country, the nation and the Muslim Ummah. Leaders of various political parties, local dignitaries and people from different classes and professions were present at that time.

Earlier, on Wednesday afternoon, the Information Minister gave a speech as the chief guest at a greeting exchange event organized by the Agailjhara upazila BNP and its associate bodies on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha at the Agailjhara Upazila Parishad auditorium. In the event, he called upon everyone to maintain communal harmony, social peace and political stability in the country.
Zahir Uddin Swapan said, 'People of different communities have been living in peaceful coexistence in Bangladesh for a long time. For the sake of the country's prosperity and economic recovery, it is extremely important for people of all religions, castes and ethnicities to live in peace.' He said, 'A certain quarter is making continuous attempts to artificially create communal divisions. To keep the country's development momentum uninterrupted, communal harmony must be maintained.'
Calling upon public representatives and those in government positions to work as servants of the people, the Information Minister said that duties must be performed sincerely for the development of the country and the welfare of the people. It is everyone's responsibility to fulfill the expectations with which the people elect public representatives by voting with trust and confidence.
Among those present at the event were Agailjhara Upazila Executive Officer Likhon Banik, Agailjhara Upazila BNP convener Shikdar Hafizul Islam, and leaders of the upazila BNP and its associate bodies.
