3 Bangladeshis killed in explosion at Ghumdhum border

ঘুমধুম সীমান্তে বিস্ফোরণে ৩ বাংলাদেশি নিহত
Three people were killed in a landmine explosion in the Bangladesh-Myanmar border area of Ghumdhum Union, Naikhongchhari, Bandarban.

The incident occurred on Sunday (May 24) around 3:00 PM near the 42nd border pillar adjacent to the Baishfari BOP in Fatrajhiri village, Ghumdhum Union.

The three deceased are residents of the local Bhalukia Para. They are: Lethaia (41), son of Sunaiyong Chakma; Angkyamong (50), son of late Niomong Chakma; and Chingkya Ang (40), son of Aoimong Chakma.

The matter was confirmed by Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed, Commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Ramu Sector in Cox's Bazar. He said further details will be provided later.

Naikhongchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozammel Haque said three people were killed in the mine explosion at the Ghumdhum border. They are being recovered and taken to the hospital. Legal action will be taken after the investigation.

Since the incident, panic has gripped the local residents.
