Will not leave Habiganj until the attack is tried: Sarjis Alam
Alleging an attack on leaders and activists of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Habiganj, the party's chief organizer for the northern region, Sarjis Alam, has announced that he will not leave Habiganj until the incident is tried.

He made this announcement while talking to journalists at Habiganj Sadar Hospital on Tuesday night (July 28). At that time, he blamed leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal and Juba Dal for the attack.

Sarjis Alam claimed that several NCP leaders and activists were seriously injured in the attack. Some had broken arms, some had fractured skulls. He also alleged that the attackers took cameras and mobile phones.

He said, 'One of our brothers was hit in the eye with a rod. His eye has been severely damaged. Another was also hit in the face with a rod.'

Sarjis alleged that an attack was carried out again on them while taking the injured to Habiganj Sadar Hospital for treatment.

He said, 'When we were taking seven or eight injured brothers to the Sadar Hospital, we were attacked even in front of the hospital. Leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal and Juba Dal did not even allow us to enter the hospital. I was also hit with a rod on my hand. Later, they attacked us with bricks, stones, and sticks.'

At this time, Sarjis Alam also questioned the role of the police. He alleged that the police did not take any effective action during the attack.

He said, 'Even after such a big attack, the police stood at a distance. If this is the reality of Bangladesh, then the acting chairman of BNP, Tarique Rahman, will have to answer for this. Why are attacks being carried out like this just for dissenting opinions or criticism?'

At the same time, he also questioned BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed. He commented that BNP must also answer the allegations raised against the local leadership.

Finally, Sarjis Alam said, 'We will not leave Habiganj until the attack is tried. If they can, they will kill us. If necessary, our bodies will be taken from here. But this attack must be tried.'
