On Sunday, at a court in Dhaka, during the hearing on framing charges in the murder case of truck driver Md. Hossain in Mohammadpur during the July movement, Polok along with other accused were produced. His lawyer Advocate Farzana Yasmin Rakhi filed an application seeking 'privileged communication' facility.
After the hearing, the court directed the concerned authorities to take necessary action according to jail rules. At the same time, accepting the time requests of other accused, the court set August 13 for the hearing on framing charges.
A total of 34 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, have been made accused in the case.
According to the case, on July 19, 2024, during the July movement, truck driver Md. Hossain was killed by gunshot in the Mohammadpur area of the capital. Two others, Sazzad and Shahin, were injured in the incident.
After the incident, the victim's wife, Mosammat Reena Begum, filed a case against 16 people including Sheikh Hasina on August 31, 2024. Later, after investigation, on November 23 of the same year, Mohammadpur Police Station Sub-Inspector Md. Akramuzzaman submitted a charge sheet against 34 people in court.
In the charge sheet, besides Sheikh Hasina, a total of 34 people have been made accused, including Awami League General Secretary and former Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, former Deputy Minister Zunaid Ahmed Polok, former Member of Parliament Sadek Khan, banned organization Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Inan.
