For the sake of establishing justice, the trial of the murder of martyr journalist Turab should be held: Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP
The Honorable Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament and Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman MP, visited the grave of martyr journalist ATM Turab, who was killed by police while on duty on the streets of Sylhet during the July 24 mass movement.

On the morning of Sunday, July 26, he went to the Fatehpur graveyard in the Biani Bazar municipal town and visited the grave of martyr Turab, the former Sylhet bureau chief of daily Naya Diganta and staff reporter of daily Jalalabad, and offered special prayers seeking forgiveness for his soul.

After the visit, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman met with the family members of the martyr journalist Turab. At that time, he expressed deep condolences to Turab's elder brother Abu Azraf Md. Jabur and other family members and inquired about their well-being.

While speaking to journalists, the opposition leader said, 'The country has become free from fascism today because of the blood of martyr journalist Turab. But it is a matter of great sorrow that even though two years have passed since his martyrdom, the trial of his murder has not yet begun. If the murder of martyr journalist Turab is not tried, then brave and truthful journalists like Turab will not emerge in the future. It is essential to complete the trial of this murder quickly to ensure a safe working environment for journalists and to restore people's trust in justice.'

He said, 'We will strengthen the demand for the trial of journalist Turab's murder. Its trial must be held. For the sake of establishing justice, the murder of journalist Turab should be tried. We do not know whether this government will try Turab's murder. But on the Day of Judgment, Turab will surely get justice.'

Present at that time were Jamaat's central working committee member and Sylhet metropolitan Amir Muhammad Fakhrul Islam, central Majlis-e-Shura member and Sylhet district Jamaat Amir Maulana Habibur Rahman, district secretary Zainal Abedin, district Jamaat leader Maulana Faizul Islam, Biani Bazar upazila Amir Mustafa Uddin, Naib-e-Amir Abul Khair, municipal Jamaat Amir Jamir Hussain, Naib-e-Amir Syed Abu Kaisar Kazal, secretary Shad Uddin, and upazila assistant secretary Rukn Uddin.

It is noteworthy that before visiting the grave of martyr journalist Turab, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman visited the graves of his maternal grandfather Master Jawadur Rahman, veteran Jamaat worker Muhuri Abdul Khaliq, and writer and researcher Abdul Hakim Tapadar. At that time, he prayed for forgiveness of their souls, inquired about their families, and expressed sympathy.
