Jadu Mia's role in Ziaur Rahman's political leadership was historic: Information Minister
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan said that in the political history of Bangladesh, one of the biggest contributions of Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia was providing leadership and guidance in the process of transforming the martyred President Ziaur Rahman from a military officer into a successful political leader. In continuation of his far-sighted political decisions, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was established and the political stream of Bangladeshi nationalism was consolidated.

The minister said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia at the Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of the National Press Club on Tuesday.

The minister said, Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia was a wise leader in the political history of Bangladesh and one of the organizers of the mass uprising of 1969. During the great liberation war, he was one of the few national leaders who were imprisoned by the Pakistani rulers. As a result, his experience and analysis of the country's political reality were deep and realistic.

He said, after independence, especially after the political change of 1975, the existing political currents of the country were struggling to adapt to the new reality. At that time, realizing the need for future leadership, Jadu Mia took the initiative to bring Ziaur Rahman into the political arena and played an important role in that process.

Zahir Uddin Swapan further said, the far-sighted political role of Jadu Mia is important behind the political philosophy of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the development of Bangladeshi nationalism, the establishment of BNP, the subsequent leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia and the continuity of the government under the current leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

He said, if Ziaur Rahman had not been transformed into a popular political leader through the right political process at that time, the course of Bangladesh's political history could have been different.

The Information Minister called upon the new generation to highlight the political wisdom, foresight and statecraft of Moshiur Rahman Jadu Mia.

MP Barkat Ullah Bulu, educationist Dr. Mahbub Ullah and BNP Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu also spoke at the event.
