Clashes in London after Morocco's World Cup exit, riot police deployed
After Morocco's 2-0 defeat to France in the World Cup quarter-finals, a tense situation arose in the Edgware Road area of London, UK. Following clashes between a section of Moroccan supporters and police, riot police were deployed to control the situation.

According to British media reports, hundreds of supporters took to the streets during and after the final whistle. Many were seen setting off fireworks and flares, climbing onto moving and parked vehicles, and obstructing traffic on main roads.

To bring the situation under control, the Metropolitan Police deployed its riot control unit. Police took positions with shields and attempted to disperse the supporters. At least one police officer was injured in the clashes and was later admitted to hospital.

The Metropolitan Police said several people were arrested in connection with the disorder. Videos circulating on social media showed an injured police officer lying on the road and receiving treatment within a security cordon of colleagues.

Meanwhile, in Paris, more than 20,000 police were deployed amid fears of possible violence linked to the match, but no major unrest was reported there. Instead, the biggest disorder occurred in London.

Morocco's World Cup campaign ended with the defeat to France. After the last African representative exited the tournament, the excitement and anger of a section of supporters turned into clashes, forcing law enforcement agencies to take strict action.
