Chhatra Shibir announces month-long program to commemorate July uprising
Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir has announced a month-long program to commemorate the July uprising. The organization said that through various programs across the country under the title 'Indomitable July', they will demand remembrance of the martyrs of the mass uprising, trial of the genocide, and implementation of the July Charter.

On Monday (June 29) at 11:30 am, at a press conference organized at Madhur Canteen of Dhaka University, Chhatra Shibir Central President Nurul Islam Saddam announced this program.

The announced programs include—countrywide protest marches and rallies demanding the full implementation of the verdict of the mass vote and the July Charter, and the trial of the genocide; publication of stories, novels, research articles and periodicals on the memories of bloody July; an exhibition titled 'July Awakening through Children's Eyes' in the capital; a 'July Awakening' docufilm competition and award ceremony; seminars, symposiums, research conferences, discussion meetings, and prayer gatherings.

Additionally, photo and documentary exhibitions titled 'July's Pledge, Building a Bangladesh of Justice', cultural events, reminiscence sessions, essay, speech and debate competitions will be organized at various educational institutions and important public gathering places across the country.

The organization further informed that establishing libraries in each district named after the martyrs, 'July Martyr Memory' sports competitions, interviews and podcasts titled 'Red July' with martyr families, the injured and participants of the movement, visiting the graves of martyrs, exchanging views with the injured and martyr families, drawing July graffiti, and a 36-day online campaign titled 'Echoes of July' are also part of the program.

At the press conference, Nurul Islam Saddam said, the memory of the July uprising is a source of inspiration for sacrifice, courage and standing against injustice. He said the sacrifice of the martyrs of the uprising has taught the people of the country to stand for justice and public rights, ignoring fear.

He further said that the achievements of the July uprising cannot be allowed to be thwarted by the power politics of any self-interested group. He called upon everyone to unite to build a discrimination-free and justice-based Bangladesh, the dream of the martyrs.
