Opposition leader exchanges views with top executives of electronic media

The exchange of views meeting was held at the opposition leader's residence on Mintoo Road in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. CEOs, heads of news, chief news editors and other senior officials of various television channels participated in it.

After the meeting, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar briefed journalists. He said the meeting discussed public suffering, price hikes, electricity and gas crisis, terrorism, partisanship and the overall political situation of the country.

Golam Parwar said Dr. Shafiqur Rahman believes that if the verdict of the referendum is not implemented after the national parliamentary election and referendum of February 12, 2026, a political crisis may arise. He also highlighted the role of Jamaat inside and outside parliament on this issue.

The meeting also discussed media freedom, national consensus, and the role of the media in protecting democracy and sovereignty. At the same time, media representatives raised various issues, including the pay structure of electronic media, the wage board, and the security of journalists.

Golam Parwar said Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has assured that Jamaat will keep its role as the opposition party in the current parliament constructive, peaceful and constitutional. He also said they will cooperate with good initiatives of the government in the interest of the country and people, and will take non-violent and responsible positions against activities contrary to public interest.
