Prime Minister forms high-level committee to resolve textile sector crisis

The decision was taken during a meeting with leaders of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) at the Prime Minister's Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday (July 22) morning. The matter was confirmed by the Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu.

During the meeting, BTMA leaders highlighted the significant contribution of the textile industry to the country's economy and sought policy support from the government for the sector's sustainable development, increased production capacity, and maintaining competitiveness in the international market. They also drew the Prime Minister's attention to the various current crises and challenges facing the industry.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said the contribution of the textile industry to the country's industrialization, employment generation, and export earnings is extremely important. He also assured that the government will continue to provide necessary cooperation for the overall development of this sector.

Following discussions at the meeting, a high-level committee was formed to review the existing problems of the textile industry and prepare effective solution proposals.

The meeting was attended by BTMA President Shawkat Aziz Russell, Vice President Shamim Islam, former President A. Matin Chowdhury, former Director Syed Enayet Kabir, Engineer Rajib Haider, Director Chowdhury Mohammad Hanif Soeb, Badsha Mia, Helal Mia, Chairman of Amanat Shah Group, and Samiul Islam, Managing Director of Munna Fabrics, along with other leaders of the organization.
