Thunderstorms likely in 17 districts by noon, cautionary signal at river ports

In the forecast issued for the country's inland river ports from 5 am to 1 pm, it has been said that Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Dhaka, Tangail, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet regions may experience temporary squally winds accompanied by rain or thunderstorms.

For this reason, the river ports in these areas have been asked to display cautionary signal number 1.

Meanwhile, in the 24-hour forecast for the whole country published on Tuesday night, the Meteorological Department said that by 6 pm on Wednesday, most areas of Barishal and Chattogram divisions and many places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds.

Due to the weather situation, authorities have advised not to stay in open fields, rivers or high places during lightning, as well as to be cautious in operating water vessels unless necessary.
