There is no alternative to sports in building a united Bangladesh and a drug-free society: Youth and Sports Deputy Minister

He said these things today as the chief guest at the grand opening ceremony of the national level competition of 'Notun Kuri Sports 2025-26' at the Syed Nazrul Islam Swimming Complex in Mirpur. The meeting was presided over by Youth and Sports Secretary Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam.

In his speech as the chief guest, the Youth and Sports Deputy Minister informed that under the overall guidance of the Honorable Prime Minister, the auspicious beginning of 'Notun Kuri Sports' was made on March 2 from Sylhet. After the successful completion of sports at the upazila, district and divisional levels step by step, the national level competition was inaugurated today. The curtain will fall on this ongoing event on the upcoming July 27.

Referring to the success of the inaugural event, he further said that a total of 8 events were included in the first edition. Preparations for the second edition have begun even before the first edition ends. Registration for the second edition has already started from July 1 of this month. This time, competitions will start from the grassroots level by forming teams from the union level, and the continuity of sports will be maintained across the country throughout the year.

Inspiring the emerging talents at the national level, the Deputy Minister assured that through everyone's collective efforts, we will be able to take the domestic sports arena to the desired goal. At the same time, those who perform well in this competition will be taken under the overall responsibility of higher education and professional sports through BKSP.
