Information Minister mourns death of Jamir Uddin Sarkar

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan has expressed deep grief over the death of former Speaker and BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Jamir Uddin Sarkar.

In a condolence message on Sunday (July 12), he said Barrister Jamir Uddin Sarkar made significant contributions to the development of parliamentary democracy in the country. Throughout his long political career, he performed various important responsibilities with honesty, wisdom and dedication.

The Information Minister said his death is an irreparable loss to the political arena of the country. The nation will remember with respect his role as Speaker of the National Parliament and in the democratic progress of the country.

He prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members.

It is to be noted that Barrister Jamir Uddin Sarkar passed away early Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Shyamoli, Dhaka. He was 94 years old at the time of his death.
