On Wednesday (October 21), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner (Operations) Md. Shahidullah gave this information to journalists at Palashi intersection in the capital.

Idol immersion at 33 locations in the capital, 16,000 police for security
He said the procession starting from Dhakeshwari National Temple will end at Waizghat. Most idols will be immersed there. To ensure airtight security around the immersion, alongside uniformed police, Detective Police (DB), CTTC, SWAT, Bomb Disposal Unit, SRU, SRB and APBn are performing duties on the ground.
The DMP Joint Commissioner further said Durga Puja is being held this time amid maximum security and so far no unpleasant incident has occurred anywhere. Mentioning that police have full preparation to deal with any situation, he sought city residents' cooperation to complete the immersion program smoothly in a festive atmosphere.
