The incident occurred on Wednesday (September 9) evening in the TNT Road area of the municipal town. Injured Abdul Majid Bakul is the joint general secretary of Bishwanath Municipal Chhatra Dal. The accused, Shamim Ahmed, was vice-president of the upazila Chhatra League.

Complaint against Chhatra League leader for beating Chhatra Dal leader at his home
Local sources said Bakul commented about BNP and allied organizations' leaders and activists on Shamim's Facebook post. Allegedly, it was due to this that an attack was carried out at his home.
Later, local leaders and activists rescued Bakul and first took him to Bishwanath Upazila Health Complex. For better treatment of his condition, he was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

In protest against the incident, Chhatra Dal held a protest march and street meeting in the municipal town on Thursday. There, they demanded the arrest of Shamim Ahmed within 24 hours. Otherwise, leaders threatened strict programs.
Bishwanath Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gazi Mahbubur Rahman said the matter is being investigated. Legal action will be taken based on the investigation. However, as of Thursday afternoon, no written complaint had been received at the police station regarding the incident.
