He said these things at an event marking the 31st founding anniversary of Dhaka Reporters Unity in Dhaka on Thursday. State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury was present at the event.
Government will not interfere with media freedom: Information Minister
The Information Minister said the media has made important contributions to Bangladesh's democracy and various achievements. The government has no intention of interfering in any way in the media or journalists' professional work.
He said that during the current government, journalists will get the opportunity to work independently and media freedom will be ensured.

At the event, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury said an initiative has been taken to increase the allocation of the Journalist Welfare Trust from Tk 6 crore to Tk 25 crore. Necessary proposals have been sent in this regard and discussions have been held with the Ministry of Finance.
Leaders of Dhaka Reporters Unity, journalists' leaders, and journalists working in various media were present at the event.
