Government will be more efficient with AI, citizen services will be easier: Public Administration Adviser

He said this in the chairperson’s speech at the closing and certificate distribution ceremony of the five-day training on ‘Strategic Use of AI Tools & Cyber Security for PMO Officials’, organized by the Governance Innovation Unit (GIU) of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Information and Communication Technology Division, on Monday.

The Public Administration Adviser said AI can play a vital role in reducing administrative complexities as well as improving decision-making, information analysis, and the quality of citizen services. The goal of technology is not merely use, but making people's lives easier.

He said AI is not a substitute for humans, but rather a powerful tool to enhance human skills and capabilities. In the future, emphasis must be placed on working by combining human skills and AI capabilities.

The adviser further said some conventional work patterns may change due to AI. Therefore, it is essential to train government officials in new skills. In particular, capabilities in AI, digital skills, and information analysis need to be enhanced.

At the event, Information and Communication Technology Division Secretary Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiya said officials of all ministries will gradually be brought under this training. Effective use of AI will reduce time and labor in government work. Besides, an initiative has been taken to formulate a policy on AI soon.

At the end of the event, certificates were distributed among the officials of the Prime Minister's Office who participated in the training.
