On Tuesday (July 21), this directive was given in a notice signed by the Registrar of the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board, Professor S M Tawhiduzzaman.
Directive to form 4 football teams in all madrasas across the country, information must be submitted by July 30
The notice stated that, according to the decision of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the 'Prime Minister's Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026' on August 9 at the Chittagong Stadium. On the same day and at the same time, tournament matches will begin in all regions of the country.
Ahead of the tournament, each madrasa must form four football teams based on merit from among the students. This will include one boys' team and one girls' team at the Dakhil (grades six to ten) level, and one boys' team and one girls' team at the Alim (first and second year) level.

The board further instructed that regular practice arrangements must be ensured for each team under the supervision of an experienced teacher or coach. Additionally, directives were given to take necessary initiatives to foster discipline, leadership, team spirit, and a healthy lifestyle among students through sports.
According to the notice, all madrasas must complete the formation of football teams by July 30 and send the relevant information to the email address registrar@bmeb.gov.bd.
Furthermore, the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board has called for ensuring necessary cooperation for the successful organization of the 'Prime Minister's Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026' by involving local representatives, administration, sports enthusiasts, political figures, and education enthusiasts.
