Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), under the Ministry of Interior, reported that the earthquake occurred at 6:20 AM local time, centered in the Battalgazi district of Malatya province.

According to the agency, the earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of approximately 15.59 kilometers below the surface.
The tremors were felt not only in Malatya but also in several surrounding provinces, including Elazig, Adiyaman, Tunceli, and Sanliurfa, causing temporary panic among locals.

AFAD stated that monitoring of the situation in the affected areas began immediately after the earthquake. So far, no information on casualties or infrastructure damage has been received.
Turkey's Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, said in a message on social media that no adverse situation or damage has been reported so far following the earthquake in Battalgazi. However, relevant authorities are closely monitoring all information and reports.
